The Dark Knight

I saw The Dark Knight yesterday. I’m not going to write any spoilers–I try only to do that for movies I don’t like (which still leaves me with a LOT of movie spoilers to write…).
I will say that movie was wrong on one point. The Joker was not a terrorist. Terrorists create terror among the civilian population in order to pressure a governmment to change its policies. The Joker created mayhem for the sake of mayhem alone.

  1. Yes, I agree with what you say about Joker.Darn. I can’t put spoilers in the comments either! :/Didn’t you love the movie? I was thrilled the entire time! Woooo! 😀 ! Woo woooo!Did you go by yourself or with a friend? When we were at the theater, there was a group of people behind us who kept laughing and cheering at all the bad parts… like they were on Joker’s side! It was annoying, but also strangely funny.:OI love Christian Bale!!!

  2. Christian Bale and Gary Oldman are BOTH some of my favorite actors (even though Oldman was in that awful Dracula movie…).I agree, this was a REALLY good movie–not just good action, but REALLY well written! The thought that went into the character development and even the dialogue was excellent.Come on now–you know I don’t have any friends! 🙂

  3. (I saw some clips for that Dracula movie on youtube… I was angry to find that it was a love story between Dracula and Lucy!)Ooo! You like Christian Bale? I thought that in certain parts of “Dark Knight”, Bruce was remenicent of American Psycho! They way he spoke and his facial expressions… and when he came into the party with those ladies… lol.I am just so happy that you liked the movie!Oh, G.P.! You have friends.

  4. Actually, terrorism doesn’t have any internationally agreed definition. So, for the Joker spreading terror just for the sake of fun, the Joker can be called as a terrorist. And try not to judge comicbooks and movies too seriously, it’s fictional, there’s no hidden messages, there’s no deeper meaning, it’s just entertainment.Except for the upcoming 2009 movie “Watchmen”, watch the trailers, read the books.

  5. LOL, nice use of Wikipedia however, you need to read past the first sentence. A long time definition of Terrorism or Terrorist that wasn’t published but rather stated in speeches and addresses by numerous world leaders is, “An individual who uses violence to reach political, religious, or financial means”. The joker was not motivated by policy, religion, or money. He simply wanted to watch the world he lived in be consumed by anarchy and mayhem. Terror was a byproduct which occurred not a motivation to reach a means. So, the joke isn’t a terrorist, but he is a sick S.O.B.I do have to say this, Heath Ledger was absolutely phenomenal. He took his acting to the next level in this movie. It’s a real shame he died so young.
